Welcome to Local Crank! This is a newsletter primarily covering the agendas and affairs of the Everett City Council and Mayor Cassie Franklin’s administration. As Everett enters its first-ever districted elections, the city is on the cusp of a major political shake-up. In the aftermath of COVID and Mayor Franklin’s draconian budget cuts, I believe it’s important to closely scrutinize how they are navigating this crisis.
I will try to publish every Friday/Saturday breakdowns and commentaries of the Everett City Council’s agendas and decision-making. While I had originally wanted to cover the local government happening across Snohomish County, I think that would be biting off more than I can chew though I’m sure some topics outside of Everett will inevitably come up.
